LAPS ‘out of district’ enrollment

  Applications for out of district students starting school in August 2010 are on the school’s Website at laschools.net and may be downloaded. Applications also are available from the receptionist at the LAPS administration office at 751 Trinity Drive. Kindergarteners must turn 5-years-old by Sept. 1 to be eligible. Applications may be filled out but will not be accepted until  7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the administration office.


School Board to meet Tuesday

The Los Alamos School Board has rescheduled its regular school board meeting to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the district boardroom at 751 Trinity Drive. The meeting is open to the public.  _______________________________

Flu absences subside at area schools

  The temporary absenteeism guidelines issued Nov. 6 for Los Alamos Public Schools will no longer be in effect as attendance procedures return to normal Monday.


La Leche League of Los Alamos to meet Tuesday

La Leche League of Los Alamos will discuss “Breastfeeding and Avoiding Difficulties” at its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the Teen Room at the First United Methodist Church. All interested, pregnant or breastfeeding women are welcome to learn and share, through mother-to-mother support, the basics, and benefits of breastfeeding. A lending library with books and audiotapes concerning childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting and nutrition is available. Nursing babies and toddlers who have difficulty separating, are welcome. LLL is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing information, education, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed. Library to host art reception

There will be a reception and screening of the documentary film “Marion Woodman: dancing in the flames” during the reception for the newest art exhibit at Mesa Public Library. The reception will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the upstairs gallery. The exhibit features paintings by Elaine Soto.


LAM to get festive

Join the Los Alamos Mountaineers (LAM) for their annual Christmas meeting, at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday in the main room at Fuller Lodge. This meeting includes a potluck brisket dinner and a fun “potpourri” slideshow by LAM members.
