The Santa Fe Opera is back with an exhibition in the upstairs art gallery of costumes from a variety of productions. Don’t miss the opening reception from 5-
7 p.m. in the gallery and rotunda, hosted by the Los Alamos Opera Guild with special guided gallery tours by Opera Production Director Paul Horpedahl.
Macular Degeneration and Hearing Challenged Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Chris Fuller, a retinal surgeon from Santa Fe. This meeting is open to the public. Gather in the classroom on the lower level at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

The Los Alamos Historical Society invites you to the third talk of its 2010-2011 lecture series that will be held in the Pajarito Room of Fuller Lodge. Lectures start at 7:30 p.m. The lectures are free and open to the public. The guest speaker will be Charles “Chick” Keller.
From 5-8 p.m. De Colores Restaurant will donate 20 percent of sales to the LAPS Foundation. Reservations encouraged, 662-6285.
“Running High, Running Low: Trail Running in Copper Canyon and the Jemez,” an illustrated talk by David Coblentz will be at 7 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St. Coblentz will describe his running of a 50-mile ultramarathon with the native Tarahumara Indian runners of Mexico. The talk is free and open to the public.
Chamisa Elementary will hold their annual fall craft and business fair with items ranging from handcrafted jewelry and children’s items to candles and food. The event will begin at 9 a.m. Space is still available by calling 672-9463.
The congregation of the United Church will come together from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to offer a host of sale items from trash to treasures, baked goods and other handmade items. Hundreds of used books will be available for purchase ranging from children’s titles to adult and religious offerings. A special lunch will be sold from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Call the church office at 662-2971 for more information or to make a donation.
A PEEC family geology field trip to Rendija Canyon, will be led by geologists from TerranearPMC and North Wind. Meet at PEEC at 1 p.m., or the trailhead up canyon from the Sportsmen’s Club at 1:30 p.m. Hike one mile each way, with some off-trail exploration.
