Police Beat

  Cash and a cash register stolen from a restaurant and a trailer and other equipment stolen from Los Alamos County top this week’s Police Beat. Read the full report on Page 2.


  Voting takes place today from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at designated polling locations throughout the county, only. There will be no voting at Mesa Public Library or in the county clerk’s office.

‘Planet 51’

  Los Alamos County Movies in the Park will screen “Planet 51” at

7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rover Park.

Brown Bag Series

  Los Alamos Arts Council Brown Bag Performance Series presents soprano Ruth Wilson Francisco and accompanist Nancy Thomas at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fuller Lodge.

Sierra Club meeting

  The Sierra Club will host its meeting at 7 p.m.  

Wednesday in the Mesa Public Library upstairs meeting room. Ken Hughes, the Sierra Club representative to the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit, will give a presentation titled, “Copenhagen and Beyond: Inside the Climate Change Talks — What’s Next.”

Master Gardeners

   The general meeting of the Master Gardeners will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ronnie Moss’ home, located at 3533 Arizona. Moss’ home has been recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as a wildlife sanctuary.

Lookman’s recital

  Yasmeen Lookman’s senior recital is at 12:15 p.m. Friday at Fuller Lodge.


  Summerfest 2010 will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Pajarito Mountain ski area. The Aspen lift will be open to hikers. Music and beer fest will be from noon-

5 p.m. with brews from 10 New Mexico breweries. $7 entry includes glass and first pint (cash only). Raffle benefiting Challenge New Mexico with some great prizes, including summer lift passes. Atomic City Transit will offer free transportation from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Sullivan Field.
