Kite Festival

  Los Alamos Arts Council and Los Alamos National Bank present the 13th Annual Kite Festival. A free kite-building workshop will be held from noon-2 p.m. and kite flying will be from

11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Overlook Park, White Rock.

Plants and other things

  The Los Alamos Garden Club will host its third annual “Plants and Other Things” sale. The sale will be from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday at 3197 Woodland Road. There will be a selection of indoor and garden plants, books and decorative items plus other garden related items. Many of the outdoor plants are xeric perennials grown in Los Alamos County.

Spring performance

  Dance Arts Los Alamos presents the Spring Performance at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Duane Smith Auditorium.

LRG membership

  The Laboratory Retirement Group (LRG) will hold its annual membership from 2-6 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Lodge, 15th and Canyon. Starting at 2 p.m.,  hamburgers, hot dogs and refreshments will be provided. Guest speaker, Ellen McGehee, LANL archeologist and historian, will speak at 5 p.m. on potential LANL Manhattan Project Heritage Park sites and structures.

Opera preview

   Receive a preview of the five operas to take the Santa Fe Opera’s stage at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.  Production Director Paul Horpedahl will bring set models, slides of costumes and lots of chatter about what and who we can expect to see at the Opera in the 2010 season. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Senior Center.

Spring Fling

  Los Alamos Choral Society presents “Spring Fling,” a concert of popular favorites from Broadway to the Beatles, at 3 p.m. Sunday on the lawn of the United Church of Los Alamos. An ice cream social will follow the concert. Tickets cost $15.
