Police beat

  Property thefts at Los Alamos National Laboratory and an Alcalde boy arrested on an outstanding warrant and suspected of driving a stolen vehicle top this week’s Police Beat. Read the full report on Page 2.

LAGS meeting

  The next meeting of the Los Alamos Geological Society will begin at

7:30 p.m. today at the Christian Church, 92 East Road. Kay Birdsell of Los Alamos National Laboratory will present a talk titled, “Chromium Contamination in the Regional Aquifer beneath Los Alamos National Laboratory.”

Be a Cub Scout

  Boys currently in kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to visit the local fire station to join Cub Scouting. Boys can have fun with a tour of the station, including the fire prevention trailer, while parents register them as Cub Scouts. Registration will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. today at Los Alamos Fire Station no. 3. Registration fees are $18 through 2010. Parents can make checks to: GSWC-BSA. Building design talk

  Maj. Bob Hull of Los Alamos Technical Associates (LATA) will give a talk titled, “Terrorist Influence on Building Design” during the Major General Franklin E. Miles Chapter 229 of the Military Orders of World Wars at the Tyuonyi Room in the Best Western Hilltop House. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. today. People are invited to attend the talk at no cost.

JJAB meeting

  The April Juvenile Justice Advisory Board (JJAB) will meet at

6:15 p.m. Wednesday in the LAPS Board Room at 651 Trinity Drive.

Build a kite

  The Los Alamos Arts Council will present a kite-building workshop at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mesa Public Library. Children are welcome to come build a kite.
