Police Beat

  Topping this week’s Police Beat were three girls between 14 and 16 years of age charged with Minor In Possession (MIP) of alcohol, three men caught attempting to enter a vehicle trunk and someone who cut a hole in a fence and stole an ATV. Read the full report on Page 2.

Ex-NNSA chief to give talk

  Arms control expert Linton Brooks will talk on “New START and Beyond” at 7:30 p.m. today in the meeting room at the new Holiday Inn Express. The event, sponsored by the Los Alamos Committee on Arms Control and International Security, is open to the public.

HS lecture series

  The Historical Society Lecture Series presents Mike Stevenson who will present, “History of the Palace of the Governors” at 7:30 p.m. today at Fuller Lodge.

Book fair

  The Los Alamos Medical Center Auxiliary will host a book fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  Wednesday and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday in the main lobby of the hospital.

PEEC class

  Starting Vegetables and Herbs from Seed,” a class taught by Martha Davis, will be held from 7-

9 p.m.Thursday at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center, located 3540 Orange St., or PajaritoEEC.org.

The White Rock Family friendly Film Series screens “Old Dogs” at 7 p.m.  Thursday at the White Rock Town Hall.

Hadassah hosts dinner

The Los Alamos Chapter of Hadassah is helping to bring improved medical care to Israel, while at the same time honoring Los Alamos Living Treasure Jacob “Jay” Wechsler. Wechsler will be honored at the First Annual Israel Independence Day Celebration Dinner to be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at De Colores Restaurant. The event is open to the public.
