Genealogical meeting

  The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 3 of the Mesa Public Library. Please bring one or two favorite old photos to show and relate the stories behind them. The public is invited. For more information, call Jodie Frye at 662-3381.

 Visiting the legislature

  The Los Alamos Republican Women will make their annual visit as a group to the legislature. The day will begin at 7 a.m. Thursday with breakfast with invited Republican legislators at the La Fonda Hotel. House and Senate session attendance will follow breakfast. For carpooling or reservations contact JoAnn Johnson, 662-7981.

 Farmers Market Thursday

   The Los Alamos Farmer’s Market will be held from 8 a.m.-noon Thursday in Fuller Lodge. The MainStreet and Juvenile Justice Advisory Board event will have a variety of items available including; eggs, jams, buffalo meat, pasta, cheeses, oyster mushrooms, organic fruits and more. This month, Assets In Action will be collecting lunch and snack items for students in need at local schools. To donate items or funds for this project but can’t make the market, call 661-4846.

DVD screening

  The Los Alamos Heart Council will screen a DVD titled, “Know Your Numbers-Learn their Value for Diabetes and Heart Disease Prevention,” from noon-1 p.m. Thursday at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Valentine Coffeehouse

  Los Alamos Arts Council presents the Valentine Coffeehouse at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fuller Lodge. Music begins at 8:15 p.m.

Social dance

  Ballroom Etcetera will host a social dance at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Unitarian Church. Music will include Ballroom, Latin, Swing and Country and Western.  

  A $3 donation per person is requested; no partner is required.
