UNM-LA Board meeting

   The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos Advisory Board will meet at 5:30 p.m.  Monday in the lecture hall.

LWV luncheon

   The Los Alamos League of Women Voters will begin the year 2010 with State District Attorney Angela “Spence” Pacheco as the speaker at the monthly Lunch with a Leader meeting. This monthly event will be held from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Avenue Grill. Everything on the extensive menu is just $13.50 (includes meal, drink, tax, tip).

Chapter BC, P.E.O. to meet

   Chapter BC, P.E.O. will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nona Bowman’s home at 1045 Los Pueblos Drive, Barranca Mesa. Bowman will also serve as the co-hostess. Pam Houghteling will present the program. Please contact Nona at 662-3192 with regrets or questions.

Amateur radio exams

   The Los Alamos Volunteer Examiner group will host the first of the quarterly exam sessions for the amateur radio licenses at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the “Old Fire Barn” (4017 Arkansas) in the upstairs meeting room. There will be testing for all classes of license.

  A picture ID or two other forms of ID, and a test fee of$15 either cash or a check made out to the ARRL VEC is needed for those wishing to take the initial test for a Techncian Class license.

  A picture ID or two other forms of ID, their original license and a copy or a valid CSCE (Certificate of Successful Completion of Exam) and a copy plus the $15 exam fee is needed for those wishing to upgrade to a higher class license.

   Los Alamos Historical Society Lecture Series will present Alan Osborne, “New Mexico’s Colorful Past” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fuller Lodge.
