The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls basketball team was nipped on the road, spoiling the debut of new coach Ann Stewart.
Los Alamos and Taos played a nip-and-tuck game all night, but the Tigers squeaked out a 53-52 win.
Taos (11-6), the No. 7-ranked team in Class 3A, and Los Alamos were never separated by more than two points at the end of an quarter Tuesday night. Los Alamos held a 1-point edge heading into the final period, but was outscored 18-16 by the Tigers.
It was the second straight loss for Los Alamos (9-8) after winning four consecutive games.
For Taos, Midnight Lujan and Marisol Martinez had 13 points each and went a combined 12 of 16 from the foul line.
