Honor Society rummage sale
Los Alamos High School National Honor Society, Natural Helpers and Key Club are hosting a rummage sale to raise money for earthquake relief aid in Haiti. The sale will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Donations can be dropped off at the high school main office Friday.
The Rotary Club of Los Alamos is hosting the monthly Sheriff’s Posse Lodge Breakfast from 7-
11 a.m. Sunday. The all-you-can-eat breakfast, which includes blueberry, banana and chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, juice and coffee.
The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children age 10 or younger. Proceeds from the breakfast will go toward many of the projects Rotary is currently engaged in, including the Mesa Public Library garden, academic and vocational scholarship for outstanding Los Alamos High School seniors, the Deborah Beene Music Award, GED exam scholarship, youth exchange and the fresh drinking water projects in Uspantan, Guatamala and the Dominican Republic.
Museum to host celebration
To celebrate Professor Dmitri Mendeleev’s birthday, the Bradbury Science Museum is serving cake and hosting a social event from 1-3 p.m. Monday. Mendeleev created the first Periodic Table of Atomic Events.
Lunch with a leader
The League of Women Voters will have Felicia Orth, a PEEC board member, as the speaker at their monthly “lunch with a leader” event from
11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Central Avenue Grill.
Orth will discuss the role of administrative law judges in state government, offer a few entertaining moments from past hearings around the state and her opinion on the potential impact of certain bills pending during this legislative session. This event is for League members and non-members. It is always helpful to e-mail Karyl Ann Armbruster at email@example.com prior to the event, but it is not mandatory. All meals are $13.50 and includes a drink, tip and tax.
